The problem
A broadcaster wanted to generate smartphone video content from his users
Covid19 has put focus on the importance of being able to easily request videos from a distance without having to meet in person. The main problem for the video producer is, that they want to collect videos from users, who do not know how to easily send a video online. The result: most likely the user will not send the video. Furthermore, the internal handling of the video gets complicated, as the videos that are send will end up in the inbox of one team member instead of being accessible for the entire team. 
The solution
The solution animates users to take part, by making it easy what to record and how to upload it
The broadcaster describes in a few lines what he wants the user to record. This information is automatically set up in an individualized website landing page, that can be shared with the user. The user follows the instructions on his smartphone, records the video and hits upload. A few minutes later the videoclips are available on the Klipworks account and the broadcaster can download the clips for further professional editing.

Before it was difficult to get videos from regular users, without sending out a reporter with a video camera to do the interview.
Afterwards
Now one can get unlimited videos from all over the region and - within minutes - begin to preview the footage and use it in tv-shows.

Stumbling blocks
Within the project it was experienced, that the user might not complete the upload process because it involves giving away one's first name, last name, phone number, email and maybe title and company. This barrier was removed by allowing the users to only provide their phone number. 
What had the customer tried before?Before that you had to have either an open ftp-server or ask users to send the videos via email (but this would have a natural upload size limit).
Differentiation from other solutions - technically
The solution does not work with a camera app, but uses a browser based communication instead. This allows all users to join. The videos are hosted online, so the broadcaster does not have to invest in any extra hardware. The broadcaster can share videos with his team and by collecting available meta data always know who did the recording, when it was shot, where it was filmed and what it is about.
Differentiation from other solutions - for the user
It is easier, faster and generates more differentiated content for the broadcaster, because he can collect unlimited videos automatically, without 1:1 dialogues. For the user it is easier, because one can just press "upload" to share video feedback instantly without downloading an app.

The provider focusses on the media industry, since this is an area where smartphone videos are already being used in large scale. This means the industry doesn't have to be convinced WHY user generated videos are important, but more HOW to improve the process. But the solution is also valid for all marketing departments of organizations, that consider a campaign with user generated video content.
